The transition from sideman to artist is not an easy one to make, but if you are multi-instrumentalist John Calzavara, you do it with the grace of a seasoned professional. Calzavara's first album, Cosmic Wave, plays like a compilation of tunes from an artists's third or fourth effort. Working as a sideman and session player in Nashville for over fifteen years, and moonlighting in the jazz scene on off hours, has honed John's skills in both musicianship and composition. "I wanted to explore composition in depth, and see where it would lead me." That journey has continued and led to the second album, Window of My Soul. The new album was born in the middle of the Covid pandemic. "As terrible as the pandemic has been, it has given me the time I needed to get back into the studio and create new music that I believe is more focused and more true to me." John plays all the instruments on the album with the exception of a few guest artists. Window of My Soul will be released in Q1 of 2022.
